The Mission of Youth for Climate (Y4C) is to empower youth (13-25) to become climate leaders working together for an equitable, sustainable, and resilient future.

Why Youth? Youth have the most to lose due to the climate crisis. Historically, youth have played a significant role in inspiring change. Big changes require collaborative, widespread, and immediate actions. Y4C provides leadership opportunities and skill-building trainings to empower young people to find their voice in the climate and environmental justice movement.

We need Adult Supporters, and you can get involved in three ways:

1) Ongoing engagement with Y4C’s Adult Team (weekly or bi-monthly Zoom meetings to help guide Y4C and support programs in general).

2) Periodic engagement: helping out with specific tasks needed for upcoming events or projects (such as picking up food for Summits and Workshops, printing out flyers, providing website support, creating media posts, writing grants, and calling teachers). We need help producing our next big event: our Fall 2022 Leaders in Action Summit to be held in mid-October (exact date TBD). If you’d like to take on a simple one-day task or be more involved in helping to plan, please join us!

3) Donations/Funding: we are looking for financial support to broaden our reach and grow our programs! Any and all donations* are greatly appreciated, and you can use SD350’s donation page.

We are actively seeking funding for our next big event to be held in mid-October:

Leaders in Action Summit**

**The cost to produce an event such as this runs approximately $2000* to reach a target of 100 participants.

*This figure does not include Y4C staff time/salaries, which adds another $2500-$3500 per event…staff coordinate events and provide training for youth leaders, supporting our mission to empower youth voices. Currently, Y4C staff includes Y4C Program Coordinator, Y4C Volunteer & Outreach Coordinator, and Y4C High School Interns (paid internships).
