STAY COOL is proud to be a member of Interfaith Power and Light (IPL) and to promote the film “Kiss the Ground”. This is a full-length documentary narrated by Woody Harrelson that sheds light on a “new, old approach” to farming called “regenerative agriculture” that has the potential to balance our climate, replenish our vast water supplies, and feed the world.
Related to this, the “Agriculture and Conservation” section of the County of San Diego’s Climate Action Plan recognizes the importance of this. Supporting efforts promote locally grown food and sustainable agricultural practices to conserve water, build soil health, and moderate soil temperatures during extreme heat days, and achieve continued greenhouse gas reductions. You can read more about the County’s CAP update at Plan (sandiegocounty.gov)
We heard from our STAY COOL members who enjoyed the movie, which is available for free until April 26th. The associated webinar, “Sacred Ground: A Message of Hope”, was held on April 21st. Viewers had a front-row seat to the conversation with “Kiss the Ground” filmmaker, Josh Tickell, and various affiliates of IPL discussing what can be done to address food justice and climate justice. As a follow-up to this, participants (and YOU!) are asked to sign a petition to Secretary of Agriculture, Tom Vilsack urging him to prioritize resources for BIPOC and small and medium-sized farmers and ranchers. If you missed the webinar, you could view it on YouTube and Facebook at the links, below.
Here is the link to the recording of the webinar. YouTube or FaceBook You will be able to read the chatbox on the side of the window of the Zoom recording.
Register to view the film, Kiss the Ground, free, through IPL through April 26. Please share the link to Register with your friends! (Please do not share your link to view).
