Our focus on Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction centers on two main issues:

Transportation

More than 45 percent of CO2 emissions in the San Diego region are from cars and trucks. Electricity use is the second highest emitter of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions. Stay Cool members are encouraging local governments and other public agencies to include strong transportation policies and land use development planning in their Climate Action Plans to reduce Vehicle Miles Traveled and support the use of transportation modes that do not rely on fossil fuels.

Community Choice Energy

Community Choice Energy (CCE) is a bold regional approach that will greatly expand the use of renewable energy for power generation. STAY COOL will track the progress of CCE development and implementation across the county and advocate for action in those jurisdictions where it is lagging.
