Federal/ State/ Local Proposals/ Legislation for Endorsement
STAY COOL reviews significant local, State and Federal proposals and will provide comments, either in writing or through public testimony. Recently, STAY COOL endorsed the Federal proposal HR 763 – Carbon Fee and Dividend. This has the potential to reduce GHG by 40% in 10 years.
Climate Action Plans
STAY COOL believes the key to regional climate change mitigation and adaptation is developing, adopting and implementing Climate Action Plans (CAPs) – comprehensive roadmaps that outline specific, measurable and attainable activities that a jurisdiction will undertake to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. All cities in the region, with the exception of Poway, have an approved Climate Action Plan, but the quality of those plans and the degree of success in implementing those plans vary significantly.
